2023 CAMP REPORT & INTERVIEW DAY15 Kuryu MATSUKI

After two weeks since the start of the camp, we have finally reached the last day of training for the Okinawa camp. In tomorrow's practice match, it will be a great opportunity to test the results we have achieved during the Okinawa camp and to continue our training in Tokyo and then in the Miyazaki camp in a good shape.

Today, Mr. Tomoaki Makino, who retired last season, came to the Tokyo training ground for a DAZN program interview.

The players who entered the stadium were taken aback by the unexpected and lively welcome from the guest, but the switch was turned on with coach Albert's whistle to start practice. Although the training itself was short, each player worked diligently and the whole team completed the menu while getting excited.

We warmed up our bodies with agility exercises, sprinting exercises, and kicking exercises in the middle range to improve our agility. As the main menu, we focused on ball possession. Despite being at the peak of fatigue, each individual concentrated on each menu and worked to improve the team's completeness, counting down from the start of the season.

In ball possession, while the defense side aggressively goes for the ball, the attacking side fails to hold onto the ball firmly, and both the ball and the players consume intensity with speed and strength.

In the final finishing menu, we confirmed the pattern of opening up the side space while maintaining ball possession and carrying it through to the finish from a cross ball. We are building the desired attacking shape of the team with a shared awareness among all members.

We will return to Tokyo tomorrow with a good sense of accomplishment towards the start of the season, demonstrating the physical condition we have improved at the Okinawa camp and the completeness as a team in the practice match tomorrow.

On the 15th day of camp, we conducted an interview with player Kuryu MATSUKI.
Q, how do you feel about the team's condition as the Okinawa camp comes to an end?
A, I think I have to win while still in a state where the starting lineup has not been decided, and I think I am having a good camp.

Q, What is expected of Albert in his second year under the Albert PUIG ORTONEDA regime as an inside half?
A, I think the most important thing is to be involved in scoring, but I think there will be situations in the game where we won't be able to make it through unless we constantly make game plays as inside halves compared to last season, so I think that's where we're being asked for a lot.

Q, Is there anything you are asked to talk to the coach personally about?
A, I was told to play calmly and always strive to improve while remaining humble because I am still a young player.

Q, how is the coordination in practice matches with many new players joining?
A, I think it's really good and I think it's coming together as we practice and play practice games.

Q, the same room is player Abe, but we get along well. Do you usually talk about soccer?
A, we get along well even in private. We mainly talk about private matters rather than soccer. We do talk about soccer on the pitch, but we never talk about it off the pitch. I think that's also a good way to switch between on and off.

Q, Please tell me the reason for changing the jersey number to "7".
A, First, I told him that I wanted to have a single-digit number. I talked to Shuuto-kun, but since Shuuto-kun was going to wear number 8, there was a flow of wanting to wear number 7. Number 7 was also the number I wore in high school, so I felt a connection to it and wanted to play with this number.

Q, When did you talk to player Abe about numbers 7 and 8?
A, I think we were discussing what to do after practice ended.

Q, It's only my second year as a professional, but I already feel like I'm becoming a central figure on the team. Is it because I still have a young mentality, or because I want to lead the team?
A, In terms of positioning, it is the most difficult position, and since I am only in my second year, I have to play actively. However, many of the members I played with last season have gone to different teams, so I want to convey various things as I was used in many games. Among them, I want to play dynamically as a young player while showing calm play.

Q, Please tell us your camp goal.
A, I think the members for the opening game will be decided to some extent at the Miyazaki camp, so first of all, I want to make a good appeal by being able to contribute not only with goals and assists, but also with game-making in practice matches.

Q, please tell us your thoughts for this season from both an individual and team perspective.
A, I think the most important thing as an individual is to not get injured. I want to have a better season than last year without getting injured. As a team, our main goal is to win the league, but we want to approach each game with the mindset of winning every single one.
