Post-Practice Game Interview 1/26

<Ryoya OGAWA player>

Q: Has the understanding of football that Coach Albert PUIG ORTONEDA aims for progressed?
I think both individually and as a team, we have been deepening our understanding. However, I still believe that we are not yet sufficient. In today's game, there were both successful and unsuccessful moments, but I personally feel that there were more areas where things did not go well.

Q: Where do you think we need to improve during the second training camp in Itoman?
A, as the coach also mentioned, we lose the ball a lot in our attacks as a team. What we are trying to do from now on is to rest by holding onto the ball rather than retreating in defense. This is the kind of soccer that the coach is asking for. If we lose the ball immediately, we won't be able to sustain our physical strength, so we want to value the ball more. Also, in defense, the way we press is different from what we have done before, so there are often discrepancies or spaces that open up. We need to work on those areas and be more thorough with our teammates.

Q: On the left side, Ogawa was able to create good chances by running up from the inside of Adailton. Are you able to grasp the timing of the inner lap?
A, Adailton player, one of us sticks out, the other stays inside, and we are very conscious of not being in the same lane. There were also moments when we called out to each other and I took the width, and I was able to play by shifting the opponent's mark by going inside, so I think the combination there is deepening.

Q: When playing on the inside, do you think there will be more opportunities to be involved in the build-up play than before?
A, I don't dislike it, and I don't think being a full-back means just staying wide and crossing. I want to be involved in the build-up play, go inside more and actively contribute to the ball.

Q: As a side back, are you able to play another soccer that can grow two more?
A, not only myself, but I believe that all the players in FC Tokyo will improve if they continue to pursue this football.

Q: Since joining, has Nagatomo had opportunities to play on the right side as well, or is the left side still his main position?
A, yes. I hadn't done much on the right side, but when I played as a right fullback, I had more opportunities to play on the inside, so even when I moved to the left, I have a sense of playing on the inside, which I think is partly thanks to playing on the right.

<Player Hotaka NAKAMURA>

Q: The first training camp is coming to an end. Please tell us about your understanding of Coach Albert's football and the charm you feel personally.
A, there are parts that can be understood quite well in my head, such as explanations on the board, but we are adjusting them during practice and everyone is trying different things. I can understand it in my head, but there are irregularities in actual game situations and we also concede goals. However, I think that is expected both for myself and for the team, so good materials are emerging (in terms of permeation). I hope we can build on this for the second camp.

Q: How do you feel about Ryo Nakamura quickly understanding and adjusting his position according to the positioning of the surrounding players?
A, in the first actual combat format, I had no choice but to stick to the outside due to my relationship with the surrounding players, so I think it was different from what was expected. We have made adjustments in meetings since then, so we have been trial and error. Today, it was not functioning at all, so I think there is room for improvement if we discuss the irregularities that occurred here as a team. I think we can grow as much as the challenges arise.

Q: How is the content of the training?
A, it's not so much fun... Of course, soccer skills are necessary as a base, but playing soccer in your head, your head really gets tired. Everyone is good, so they keep doing it, but for me, both the technical aspect and the mental aspect are in full swing, and yet I still make mistakes. It's only been about 10 days since it started, so the coach has also told me, but I think we can change the growth curve by how much soul we put into each ball, so I'm taking it positively.

Q: I think you haven't had many opportunities to play on the inside so far, but that's also room for growth, right?
A, I think it is a necessary ability to go up one or two more levels, and if I didn't know this, I think I would have become a player who relies on physical ability and determination. If I can combine the abilities required by Coach Albert with my current abilities, I think there is a possibility of going up as an individual, so I think it will be difficult immediately, but I want to gradually combine it with my own abilities.
