【Player/Coach Comments】
Leandro player
(Looking back on today's battle)
"Today's match was difficult because the opponent was playing defensively."
"Nevertheless, the team persevered together, defended patiently, attacked as a unit, and were able to secure 3 points with a victory."
(In terms of perseverance, I think there was also a significant contribution on the defensive side)
"As one of the characteristics of my playing style, there is a part of hard work. In terms of contributing to the team, I was able to contribute today in the form of a goal. In addition, I think it is most important to fight for the team in various aspects and seize victory."
(Looking back at the goal scene)
"I passed the ball to Abbe, who was free inside the penalty area, and asked for a return. I don't remember much about that scene, but I had an image in my mind. It was really a difficult situation in today's game, but I'm really happy that I was able to score and win."
(I think I was playing to seek results)
"I am playing for the team. I think that everything that leads to victory is important."
(Diego OLIVEIRA, Adailton and their relationship)
"I think we can communicate easily and have built a good connection. We are able to inspire each other, so I want to continue this."
"Shuto ABE"
"In the first half, it was a difficult situation as we couldn't attack as we wanted, but gradually we were able to play the football we wanted from the middle of the first half, and in the second half, we were able to make fast attacks forward. It would have been better if I could have sprinted vertically and moved the ball more to play our football from the first half."
(About the scene of the assist to Leandro, who scored the winning goal)
"At first, Leandro passed the ball to where I was running. I kept the ball and when I looked up, I saw Ogawa making a move inside and Leandro becoming free. I was thinking of trapping the ball and crossing it, but he showed his characteristic boldness. I didn't expect him to shoot in that direction, but I felt that his boldness led to a goal."
(It was a goal that the team went to score and took away)
"I wanted to score because it was our home game. It was reassuring to have players like Morishige and Watanabe defending behind me."
(About the play of player Konno, who is a classmate)
"By having a player like that come in from the middle of the second half, the team's momentum increases and the opponent also feels uncomfortable. I think that the team gets on board when a player who comes in from the middle gets energized, and that led to the goal."
(Still a short period of time, but the combination with the forward players is good)
"I have been able to play well while talking with Leandro and the other players from the practice. I am able to make use of what I have worked on in practice in the game. However, there are also scenes where the ball does not connect due to my own mistakes, so I want to focus on that."
(After fighting in 3 ACL matches, and looking back on the evaluation so far and looking ahead)
"Now that the J1 League is starting, I want to prepare well for the long battle. I want to make efforts to always be able to play as a starter and to seize victory."
"Tokyo - Summary of Coach Kenta HASEGAWA's Press Conference"
"We are grateful that over 7,000 fans and supporters came on a weekday Tuesday."
We knew that they would be a very difficult opponent from before the match. We had been thinking for a week about how to break through their defense and score goals. As a result, we couldn't easily break through their defense and create big chances. The opponent was also good at ball possession, but we didn't allow them to create many dangerous scenes.
I think it was good that we were able to fight without rushing through the game. Also, player Konno came in from the middle and changed the flow. We were able to create a period of time where we pushed the opponent and I think it ultimately led to Leandro's opening goal.
I thought it was important to use the substitution slots effectively as a coach and proceed with the game, so I am really glad that we were able to earn 3 points at home.
(What instructions did you give for the second half?)
"In the first half, the midfielders tended to stay back too much."
I often play in front of the opponent's midfield even when attacking, and I couldn't easily move forward when trying to apply pressure. I wanted them to play more aggressively in that aspect.
If we could put a little more pressure, maybe we wouldn't have been passed the ball so much in the first half.
I thought that even if the defense line became equal in number under pressure, it would be fine as long as I returned with all my strength if I was beaten.
I think we were able to communicate well and respond effectively in the second half. There were some scenes where we were pressured with the ball, but we were able to handle them properly in front of the goal. We were able to connect good defense to good offense."
"Perth Glory, Coach Tony Popovic Press Conference Summary"
"As a coach, there are times when you feel that the opponent was stronger and leave the pitch after losing a soccer match. However, when we look back on our performance this time, I don't think that was the case at all. Despite it being our first time competing in the ACL, the players fought their hardest. The game itself was fought by every player towards victory, so we will not look down and want to work towards the next match."
(I think there were schedule changes and various things to consider when facing the ACL, but how was this expedition?)
"We are grateful for the kind support from everyone in Japan. We were able to focus on football as well. We had no complaints about our stay in Japan."
(About the measures and analysis we had for Tokyo)
"Tokyo also put pressure on us, but until we conceded a goal, I think we were the ones pressing more. Leandro scored a fantastic goal, which was a scene that represented the quality of Tokyo. We should have at least achieved a draw."
There were also scenes of 1-on-1 with the GK, but we couldn't score. However, I think being able to compete against a strong team like today will contribute to our confidence in the future."
