【Player/Coach Comments】
"Kojiro YASUDA (player)"
(What was the reason for starting in the lineup?)
"I have been participating in training for a while now, and I was able to play in the second half of the Levain Cup Oita match. I think I was able to leave something behind there."
During practice, there were parts where I was able to gain the trust of the players around me little by little, so I think that's what led to me being in the starting lineup."
(How was your performance as an individual?)
"There were a few scenes where I was able to make some moves when I had the ball, but it didn't result in a goal."
Since there were also many mistakes, we need to build them up as future challenges, and I want to become a player who can make the team win in any situation."
(What kind of play do you think will be necessary for you in the future?)
"Today, I played as a left side half, but I think it will be necessary to be more aggressive, make moves, and cooperate with other players to go inside."
"Today, I had many scenes where I tried to break through on my own and lost the ball, so I want to play more by using my teammates and also make myself more effective."
"Yojiro TAKAHAGI"
(Although it was a defensive game, what did you focus on when you entered the field?)
"I wanted to securely collect clear balls and loose balls from the opponent's long balls, and create time for both offense and defense, but I couldn't create such opportunities easily."
"I wish I could have collected it a little more on my own."
(I think we were pushed by the opponent's momentum for the remaining 10 minutes, but the main reason is)
"I think the main reason is that we couldn't control the ball when the opponent came strong in the duels and second balls."
(How do you feel about the defeat against the university team?)
"I definitely didn't enter the game with the mindset that they are college students, and I didn't play with a condescending attitude. It's really frustrating to lose to any opponent."
(Towards Levain and J-League)
"First of all, since we cannot go back after losing, we will switch and prepare for the next Levain Cup."
If we can turn the ball into the opponent's ball many times, regardless of the opponent, I think chances will come rolling. First and foremost, we must not lose in the battle for the ball, including the mental aspect.
I think it is important to adjust each player's judgment during the game and bring it together.
"Tokyo - Summary of Coach Kenta HASEGAWA's Press Conference"
"I take this loss seriously and believe it is the responsibility of the coach."
I think each player fought with their own feelings.
It was difficult to win with just one point, and we couldn't create the momentum to score additional points.
I want to commend the efforts of the players from Juntendo University.
"We cannot win in the league with just one goal, so we need to explore different offensive combinations for the next Levain Cup."
(Intention of substituting Diego OLIVEIRA as a substitute)
"I thought that if we could score one more goal, the game would be decided, so I made the substitution with the aim of scoring an additional goal."
(The cause of the 1-1 draw)
"We had chances until the end, and we tried to tighten up in the last 5 minutes by making player substitutions, but we couldn't do it properly."
(Some of the players who played in extra time were unexpected, but I don't think it will have much of an impact on the Levain Cup this weekend)
"We didn't play for a very long time, so I don't think it will have that much of an impact. However, it's a three-day break, so I want to decide based on each player's condition."
(If we were to lose, it would have ended up like this after 120 minutes of fighting)
"I knew that students would exert their extra power when they seize an opportunity like today, so I thought it would be dangerous if we didn't score another goal in the second half. I wanted to put in Diego and Mita to score an additional goal and decide the game, but the shot went in at the very end and it went into extra time. This was unexpected, but even if it turned out that way, we had players like Adailton who could participate in a shootout and win. It was a disappointing result that we couldn't score an additional goal among them."
I think the players from Juntendo University fought with great passion. It's a very frustrating loss to lose to college students for the first time in my coaching career, and it's also a painful realization of my own powerlessness that we couldn't deliver a victory to the fans and supporters who came to the game during the COVID-19 pandemic.
(The importance of Levain Cup increased after losing in the Emperor's Cup)
"Losing in the Emperor's Cup doesn't mean that the importance increases. We gave it our all and ended up losing."
Since Levain Cup couldn't win in the first match, we want to give our all and fight.
"Summary of the Press Conference by Juntendo University Coach, Takumi Horiike"
"I didn't think I would be able to play against Tokyo in the 2nd round today. I might have been the most excited about it myself."
We have players from Tokyo, and there were players who couldn't make it to the top and I invited them with the feeling of "Let's show them again in 4 years". Hasegawa, Terayama, and Kobayashi fought with their hearts. I think both the players and the team gained a lot in the sense that they were able to fight without giving up even when they were scored against.
I thought there was something infinite to gain if we won. I understood my position in a serious match. The players said that even if we lost, there was nothing to lose, so it was good that we were able to do it without giving up.
There is a university league, but there is also the Levain Cup in the J-League.
I think it will be a confidence boost for the future that we were able to win among the top players who were talking about letting the real top players play in the game.
