【Player/Coach Comments】
Tsuyoshi WATANABE
(Looking back at the opening goal)
"I had confidence that I could win with a header if a high ball was sent, so I decided to jump in with all my might."
(Was today's opening goal as planned?)
"We have been practicing set plays every week, but we haven't been able to score goals easily, so I was determined to score a goal today. I'm glad I was able to score a goal in the midst of that."
(Sapporo, who is good at set plays, was able to score a goal from a set play)
"I think it was a very good flow to be able to take the lead with a set play against a team that is strong in set plays. However, we couldn't finish the game and it's frustrating."
(In today's match, both teams had intense moments)
"I thought that if we played defensively, we would lose, so no matter how tough the match was, we fought with the determination to definitely earn 3 points, even if it meant getting our hands dirty."
There were moments of intense competition within it, but looking back at the entire game, I think it was a match that will lead to the next one.
(The away battles continue)
"The tough battles will continue from here, but we are challengers in every game."
"If we can prepare well and adjust our condition, I think the away game won't be that tough."
"Yojiro TAKAHAGI"
(The match was intense)
How do you perceive taking one point in the unique atmosphere of Sapporo, amidst the feeling of wanting to win honestly?
If you take a strict view, it wasn't a satisfying performance in all aspects, but we want to see it as a positive that we were able to accumulate 1 point in the start of the 8 consecutive away games.
(Today's gains and challenges in the match)
"In terms of content, I think that the fact that both teams were able to fight tenaciously in a match where neither team could take a single point is something that will lead to the next step."
I think the next challenge is to score the second goal and win in a game like today's.
(There was a presence of working harder than usual today)
"Because it was Sapporo Dome, it wasn't hot and I was able to run."
Of course, the fans and supporters gave us a tremendous boost.
I think I was able to run thanks to everyone's support. I want to continue doing this so that I can turn it into a win next time."
"Tokyo - Summary of Coach Kenta HASEGAWA's Press Conference"
"We are grateful for the many fans and supporters who have come to support us from Tokyo today."
I think the players have played a game that can meet the expectations of the fans and supporters.
In a development where we took the lead and then were caught up, the players would be most frustrated by not being able to make the most of the chances that both teams had. However, last year we conceded three goals in the second half after leading by two points and suffered a comeback defeat, so the players played with the lessons learned from last year in mind.
From the middle of the match, it became an open game, but even in that situation, the defense line defended with their bodies and the attack continued to threaten the opponent's goal, I think they played a really intense game.
In the hot weather, the game had been continuing without much tempo, but today I told the players that it would be a high-tempo game at the dome, so I think they fought until the end today.
Although it is only 1 point, I think it is a significant 1 point, and I want to prepare well for the next match.
(What is needed to turn today's draw into a win, even though away games continue)
"I think it is important to continue playing tough matches like today. Even after conceding a goal today, Sapporo came back with momentum, but we were able to patiently fight and bring it to a draw. We fought without losing concentration until the end, and although it was only 1 point, it was still 1 point. I hope we can continue climbing the stairs one by one."
"Sapporo Petrovic Coach Press Conference Summary"
"I expected today to be very difficult, and it turned out that way. Tokyo is a very experienced, disciplined, and tough opponent. We started off in a very good shape and had chances, but we couldn't convert them into a lead."
It was good for about 20 minutes, but after that, it dropped too much, and because it dropped, I couldn't go to steal the ball, and because I couldn't go to steal it, I dropped even further. It became such a vicious cycle.
The first half ended with a score of 1-0, but in the second half, they stepped up their game and fought aggressively. It became a match where they exchanged blows in an open and intense manner.
It was good to be able to equalize in the early part of the second half. Especially the counterattacks were sharp and we were able to press the opponent. Unfortunately, we couldn't score in the final precision, but if we can improve the precision in those areas, we should be able to create more scoring opportunities in the second half. However, they played a better game in the second half than in the first half.
Today's point of reflection is that the defensive block dropped and we couldn't press the opponent, which gave them rhythm. In other aspects, we were able to create a good shape. Although it was a draw, I think it's a good thing that we were able to have such a game against Tokyo.
The players ran until the end in order to turn the game around. There were some mistakes, but I want to commend their attitude and the wonderful support from the fans. We will continue to prepare for the next battle and next week.
