Both teams' players share their thoughts on the Tama River Clasico in a released VTR!!

□ What is the Tamagawa Classico...
Since the JFL era in 1997, both clubs have been honing their skills as "good rivals" through intense matches and numerous dramatic developments. In particular, in 1999, the first year of J2, FC Tokyo emerged from Tokyo Gas to join the J1 League, and both clubs fought fiercely for promotion, successfully achieving promotion to the J1 League together. Kawasaki Frontale was relegated to J2 League after one year, but they regained promotion in 2005 and are once again engaged in fierce battles between the two clubs.
In this land divided by the Tama River, the history of competing and improving each other has shown an excitement that is no less than the "derby" held in other cities. And from now on, we will cherish the history of these two clubs and continue this battle as a tradition. The Tama River, which separates the two clubs, and the Spanish word for "classic" meaning "traditional battle" have been combined to name this match the "Tama River Classic".
The "Tama River Clasico" started in 2007, but in order to honor the history of fierce battles between FC Tokyo and Kawasaki Frontale, it is counted as part of the "Tama River Clasico" since the first year of J2 in 1999. From 1999 to 2006, there were a total of 10 matches. In 2007, the first official match was held on May 6th as the "11th Tama River Clasico" during Kawasaki Frontale's home game. Moving forward, we will continue to strive and compete in order to build a history of 50, 100, 200... matches between both clubs.

※Both clubs have agreed that only league matches will be counted as "Tamagawa Clasico". (Matches in cup competitions, including the Emperor's Cup, will not be counted.)
The current record of "Tamagawa Clasico" matches is 10 wins, 9 draws, and 20 losses for FC Tokyo.
