We are pleased to announce that we have received the "2024 J League Best Youth Development Club Award" at the 2024 J League Awards.
This marks the second consecutive award following last season, and the fourth award overall, combining the 2010 and 2017 seasons, making it the most for a J-League club.
□Shigeya Kawagishi, President and CEO Comment
"I am very pleased to have received the 'Best Youth Development Club Award' for the second consecutive season, and for the fourth time overall, which is the most in history."
The activities of the academy are supported by the tremendous support from our fans, supporters, local community, and partners. Starting this season, we have launched initiatives for individual and corporate academy supporters and partners to support the academy's activities, receiving significant support both materially and spiritually. Once again, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone involved.
Players from FC Tokyo's academy continue to be selected for the Japan national team at various age levels, and they are also performing well in competitions on the world stage. For the next season, three players have already been confirmed to be promoted to the top team, and the proportion of academy graduates in the top team is also on the rise. I believe this is all due to the established know-how in player development within FC Tokyo's academy organization.
By winning this award last season, we were able to participate in the '2024 Gothia Cup', a global tournament for youth held in Sweden this year, and FC Tokyo was able to achieve the runner-up position. This age group has a very valuable opportunity to compete at the club level against the world, and it has provided us with a very important opportunity in terms of player development.
Once again, in order to continue this positive cycle through player development, we will continue to strive to strengthen our development efforts. We kindly ask for your continued support.
□Satoru ASARI Academy Director
"This award is thanks to the support of the Academy supporters, Academy partners, and everyone in the community who has been supporting us, as well as the fans and supporters. Above all, I believe it is due to the heartfelt messages conveyed to the developing players by everyone who is always close to them. I would like to express my sincere gratitude."
I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the teams in the 4th category (elementary school age under 12) that send players to the FC Tokyo Academy.
This season, FC Tokyo U-18 conducted a tour in Germany and also participated in the '2024 Gothia Cup' held in Sweden, where they finished as runners-up. FC Tokyo U-15 Fukagawa also conducted a tour in France, and FC Tokyo U-15 Musashi conducted a tour in the Netherlands, allowing players at all age levels to gain overseas experience beyond Japan. We have been given a very valuable opportunity to compete against teams from around the world during the developmental age.
The impact of collaboration with the top team that the club is working on is significant, and by feeling close to the goals we aim for, such as participating in training, we can promote further growth of the players. Without being satisfied with the current situation, we want to ensure that this positive cycle continues, nurturing players who will become the future of the club and represent Japan on the world stage, dedicating even more effort to player development without becoming complacent. We appreciate your continued support and encouragement.
