On August 5th (Saturday), the 20th round of the 2017 Meiji Yasuda J1 League between Kawasaki Frontale and FC Tokyo (kick-off at 19:00 at Kawasaki Todoroki Stadium) will be the "30th Tama River Clasico". To commemorate the milestone of the 30th edition, we will hold an event at Tama River Asama Shrine, where a joint press conference was held when the "Tama River Clasico" started in 2007. Although it is an away game, we kindly ask for your support for FC Tokyo at the stadium on the day of the match!

A premium concert where the students of Showa Music University will perform the specially arranged "Tama River Clasico Anthem". The fans and supporters of both teams will also perform that special song that holds special memories. This special concert, held in the precincts of a shrine related to the Tama River, is a must-see with its maximum sense of extraordinary!

On the day of the event, ticket sales for the Kawasaki match will also be conducted at the venue.
What is the Tama River Clasico...
Both clubs have been challenging each other as "good rivals" with intense game content and numerous dramatic game developments since the JFL era in 1997. Especially in 1999, which was the first year of J2, Tokyo Gas aimed to enter the J1 league and became the current FC Tokyo. Both clubs successfully won the fierce promotion battle and achieved promotion to the J1 league. Kawasaki Frontale was relegated to J2 league in one year, but they were promoted again in 2005 and have been engaging in intense battles with both clubs. The history of fighting each other and improving together on this land across the Tama River shows an excitement that is not inferior to the "Derby" held in other cities. And in the future, we will cherish the history of these two clubs and continue this battle as a tradition. Therefore, we named it "Tama River Clasico," combining the "Tama River," which is a symbol that separates the two clubs, and the meaning of "Clasico" in Spanish, which refers to a traditional match.
The "Tama River Clasico" started in 2007, but in order to cherish the history of intense battles between FC Tokyo and Kawasaki Frontale, it is counted as the "Tama River Clasico" from the first year of J2 in 1999. From 1999 to 2006, there were a total of 10 matches. The planning started in 2007, and the first match was positioned as the "11th Tama River Clasico" and held as Kawasaki Frontale's home game on May 6, 2007. In the future, we will continue to strive and compete in both clubs to build a history of 50th, 100th, 200th... Tama River Clasico.
Both clubs have agreed that only matches in the league will be counted as the Tama River Clasico. Matches in cup competitions, including the Emperor's Cup, will not be counted.
The current head-to-head record is 9 wins, 7 draws, and 13 losses for FC Tokyo.
