王者ジュビロを倒し、単独首位浮上に望みをかける

　第5節は１stステージチャンピオンのジュビロ磐田との対戦。他カードより一日遅れの開催のため、現在の暫定順位はジュビロが3位、FC東京は4位につけている。3位対4位の直接対決で、今日勝点3を奪えば単独首位に浮上できる、どちらにとっても重要な一戦だ。

　1stステージの対戦では、ホームで0対2と完敗したジュビロ。だが、同様に敗れたガンバ、ヴェルディ、そして引き分けに終わったジェフには、今ステージできっちり借りを返している。チャンピオンチーム相手に決してラクな試合はできるはずはないが、チームの調子も上向き。気合いも十分、リベンジに燃えてアウェー磐田の地に乗り込んだ。前節の右足太もも打撲で故障が心配された石川だが、元気な姿を見せて先発出場。試合前から降り出した秋雨の中、東京のキックオフで試合はスタートした。

F.C.TOKYO Reach For The Top 

The fifth game of the second stage saw F.C.TOKYO visit Jubilo Iwata. The results from the games played a day earlier had left Jubilo in third place and TOKYO in fourth; a win for either team would see them go top of the league. 
TOKYO had lost the corresponding first stage fixture 0-2 but gutsy performances in the recent victories over Gamba and Verdy had boosted their confidence and the team entered the game against the champions elect in a positive frame of mind. The only injury doubt, Ishikawa, had made a rapid recovery from a knock received in the Verdy game and was included in the starting eleven. F.C.TOKYO kicked off in a light drizzle at Iwata Stadium. 

ミスから先制を許し、チャンスをモノにすることができず…

　ファーストタッチから積極的に前に向かう東京。だが最終ラインでボールをカットされると、ジュビロのスピーディなボール運びでゴール前に迫られる。そしてジュビロFW高原がペナルティエリア右外から送ったパスはカット、続いて高原をマークしていた伊藤がクリアしようとしたが、ボールはペナルティアークすぐ外にこぼれ、フリーで待ち構えていたMF藤田にプレゼントボールのようにわたってしまう。藤田の放った低く抑えたシュートはゴール右下隅につきささり、開始1分東京は早くも先制点を奪われる。

　だが東京も決して下を向くことなく、5分には戸田、アマラオが果敢にゴール前に走り込み、スルーパスを相手DFがクリアすると、こぼれ球を拾って石川が強烈なシュート。CKを奪い、宮沢のボールにジャーンがヘッドで合わせたが、惜しくもゴールをはずれた。12分には、右サイドで石川が相手DFに競り勝ってCKを奪うと、石川自らが蹴った右CKに戸田が飛び込んだが、間一髪のところで相手DFにクリアされた。

　ジュビロはダイレクトパスの連続で、ワイドに仕掛けてくる。プレッシャーも厳しく、14分には東京のバックパスが土肥にわたったところで、猛烈にプレスをかけて土肥のキックミスを誘い、スローインに。そこから続く15分、右サイドでMF西からのボールを受けたMF河村が、ペナルティエリア右からグラウンダーの鋭いクロス。これを中央でFW中山がスルーすると、その後ろの高原がバランスを崩しながらも正確にボールを止め左足で豪快にシュートを放ちゴール左にイン。

　ジュビロの流れるような攻撃に見とれるかのように、開始15分で2点のビハインドを負った東京だが、それでも前に向かおうと果敢にジュビロ陣内に攻め込んだ。18分には石川のシュートから左CKを奪い、このコーナーからケリーがヘディング、こぼれたところのジャーンが詰めたが、GKがキャッチ。惜しいゴールチャンスを逃す。23分には、宮沢の左FKからゴール前で再びジャーンが足で合わせようとしたが、ゴールの上に。なんとかセットプレーから活路を見出そうとするが、決定力にも見放され、ゴールには至らず。

　ジュビロは攻守の切り替えがものすごく速く、東京はプレスをかけてカットしても、自陣の低い位置からでは組立てのパスがつながらず、すぐに奪い返されてしまう。24分には、高原が左サイドの服部に大きくサイドチェンジ、中央で西→藤田とつなぎ、再び右サイドの高原へ。高原はDFをかわしてシュートと、ワイドな展開からダイナミックな攻撃を仕掛けてくる。

　一方東京も29分、加地のロングスローを受けて石川がクロス、受けたアマラオがシュートモーションに入るが、相手DFがカット。34分には、再び右サイドからのスローインをケリーがつなぎ、戸田がゴール前に飛び込んでCKを奪うが、CKも得点には結びつかず。38分には下平に替えて浅利を投入。42分には右サイド宮沢のFKにアマラオが飛び込むが、ヘディングシュートはゴール上に。ロスタイムにも加地のクロスに戸田がヘッドであわせたが、DFにカットされた。主導権を握られる中でシュート数は10:8とジュビロを上回り、チャンスも東京の方が多く作っていたがゴールネットを揺らすことはできず、前半を終了した。

TOKYO Struggle After Conceding Early Goal 

TOKYO looked to surge at Jubilo straight from the kick off but the ball was cut out by the defence and quickly returned downfield to Takahara. Tetsuya Ito managed to intercept his pass but succeeded only in directing the ball into the path of Jubilo midfielder Fujita who wasted no time in striking a low shot inside the right post to put his side ahead with less than a minute on the clock. 
If the early goal had stunned TOKYO they didn't show it and nearly equalised minutes later as Amaral and Toda tore into the home defence. Amaral's final through pass was only half cleared and Ishikawa, following up, let fly a powerful shot that the keeper turned around the post for a corner. Jean marched forward and met Miyazawa's corner with a towering header that flew narrowly wide. In the 12th. minute Ishikawa harried a defender into conceding another corner which he took himself; a defender beat the diving Toda to the ball by a hair's breadth. 
Jubilo responded with some sharp direct passing and pressed TOKYO down the flanks. In the 14th. minute a back pass put TOKYO keeper Doi under pressure and he was forced to kick into touch. A minute later Nishi found Kawamura on the right of the TOKYO area and Nakayama dummied his low cross into the area. Takahara, although under pressure and losing his footing, managed to control the ball and blast it past Doi. 
Despite being two goals down after only 15 minutes TOKYO continued to drive at the Jubilo defence with a fine effort from Ishikawa winning a corner in the 18th. minute. Kelly, and then Jean, got touches on the ball but the Jubilo keeper eventually claimed it. Jean was again involved in the 23rd. minute, turning a free kick from Miyazawa over the bar. TOKYO had several chances from set plays but were unable to convert any into goals. 
Jubilo were able to turn defence into attack with such fluidity and speed that TOKYO, hemmed into the last third of the pitch, were unable to find a forward outlet for the ball when they regained possession. Or, if they did, support was slow in arriving and it was lost again. A sumptuous move involving five players and a double side change, started and finished by Takahara, nearly produced a third goal in the 24th. minute. 
In the 29th. minute Ishikawa picked out Amaral with a fine cross but his shot was charged down by a defender. Toda won a corner in the 34th. minute with a brave diving header but again it came to nothing. Asari replaced Shimotaira in the 38th. minute, Amaral headed a Miyazawa free kick over the bar in the 42nd. minute and in injury time Toda had a fierce drive blocked by a defender. TOKYO had outshot the home side by 10 to 8 but finished the first period 2-0 down. 

福田が反撃の糸口としたい貴重なゴールを挙げるが……

　前半途中から加地を高い位置に上げ、3バックの形で臨んだ東京。原監督は「より攻撃的に点を取りに行くため、そして伊藤のカバーリングにの茂庭を入れるため」と話したが、後半は戸田に替えて福田を投入。２トップで、左MFに石川を置き、3-5-2の布陣で臨んだ。

　だが後半開始2分の47分、左サイドを河村にドリブルで突破されると、クロスを許す。このクロスは甘く無人の左サイドに流れたが、東京はマイボールにすることはできず、そこにMF服部が猛然と走り込んでシュートを放つ。土肥が一旦左手でセーブしたものの、はじいたところをゴール前に詰めていた高原が押し込み、東京は後半立ち上がりに3点目を失う。

　東京はそれでも一矢を報いようと、必死の反撃を試み、56分には、宮沢の遠目の位置からのシュートを相手DFがカット、右サイドに抜け出したアマラオの前にこぼれ、GKと1対1になるが、シュートはGKにセーブされ、どうしてもゴールが遠い。ますますかさにかかったジュビロは、受け手と出し手の意思統一のなされた速いパス回し、プレスのかけどころなど、すべてが成熟しており、東京陣内で試合は進む。

　だが、66分のことだった。左サイドの宮沢が大きくサイドを変えるパスを福田に送ると、右ペナルティエリアで受けた福田が、DFをかわして中に切り込みシュート。ボールはGKに阻まれたが、CKを得る。これをショートコーナーから加地が中へ持ち込み左足でグラウンダークロスを中央へ入れると、ディフェンダーと競り合いながらニアサイドに走りこんだ福田があわせゴール！　福田にとってリーグ戦では実に１年ぶりとなる念願のゴールは、本人にとっても、そしてチームにとっても待ち望んでいた価値ある一発で、東京はついに反撃の糸口としたい貴重な1点をもぎ取った！

Fukuda Pulls One Back But... 

Midway through the first half TOKYO had pushed Kaji forward and opted for a three back system. As manager Hara reasoned " We needed to score desperately and I wanted Moniwa covering in front of Ito ". Forward Fukuda replaced Toda at half time and Ishikawa moved to the left in a 3-5-2 formation. 
Unfortunately a defensive lapse in the 47th. minute saw a cross from Kawamura sail across the TOKYO penalty area to the unmarked Hattori. Doi managed to block his shot but Takahara was on hand to bundle the ball over the line for the third goal. 
Down but not yet out, TOKYO continued to push forward. Miyazawa tried his luck with a long range blast in the 56th. minute; the ball cannoned off a defender straight into the path of Amaral, who only had the keeper to beat. 
Somehow his effort was saved and the TOKYO players must have thought they were predestined not to score. 
In the 66th. minute a raking cross field pass from Miyazawa picked out Fukuda who rounded a defender and fired in a shot which the Jubilo keeper turned around the post for a corner. It was taken short to Kaji who whipped in a low cross for Fukuda to outmuscle a defender and power the ball home at the near post. Fukuda's delight was plain to see: his first league goal for nearly a year was a just reward for TOKYO's hard work and suggested a fightback was possible. 

すべてに成熟したジュビロの前に完敗

　67分には左サイドで押し込まれがちであった石川が、けがの大事も取って喜名と交代。だが、直後の68分、ジュビロは東京陣内に進むと右ペナルティーエリアで藤田がキープ、後ろに戻すと走りこんできた西がシュート、これをゴール前にいた高原がヒールでコースを変えてゴールイン。高原の技ありのハットトリックであっけなく4点目を失うと、再び3点差に。ジュビロは74分にはMF名波に替えてMF金沢を、78分には西に替えてスピードのあるFW川口を投入、東京を完全に突き放しにかかる。

　狙いどおり、80分には、東京がカウンターでジャーンが上がっていた隙に速攻で切り返し、後方からのボールを中山がつなぎ、高原が右サイドに送る。受けた川口はドリブルで右サイドを突破、DFをかわしてシュートまで持ち込み、ここから立て続けに3本のCKを奪う。

　そして85分、東京は浅利が今日2枚目のイエローカードで退場に。こうなると集中が切れた。87分、右サイドを中山がドリブルで疾走して中央にクロスを送ると、またもや高原が合わせてゴール。自身４点目のゴールで、ジュビロは5得点。そして89分には、ゴールキーパーからのボールを東京DFがクリア、これを中盤で受けた金沢が前線へ浮球のパス。ここに飛び込んだ中山が伊藤と競りながらも、土肥の頭上を越すループシュートでダメ押しの6点目。東京はDFが崩壊し、抗う術もなく大量失点で敗れた。

　原監督は、「ミスをしたときに、ふんばってリズムを取り戻そうとすることができなかった。どんなときにもふんばることのリーダーシップが必要」と敗因について話した。そう、ここで落ち込んではいられない。まだまだ戦いの道のりは長く続くのだ。残り10節、この敗戦を糧にできるかどうかは、明日からの戦いにかかっている。

【原監督の会見要旨】「立ち上がりから積極的にいきたかったが、1点目の失点で自信をなくしてしまったように思う。ジュビロも最初から積極的にきていたので、怖がらずにやろうとしたが、シンプルにやればいいところをつなごうとしたり、バックパスをしたりして自滅してしまった。前半2点を取られた後は、セットプレーを中心に何回かチャンスをつくっていたので、後半に向けて『1点取れば自分たちのペースになる』と話した。だが後半すぐに追加点を奪われたことが大きく響いた。また、なんとか1点返した直後にも決められ、浅利も退場になり、悪循環に陥って最後はジュビロの好きなようにやられてしまった。ジュビロ相手にこういうミスがあるとなかなか勝てない。前半はこちらが先取点を取る展開でいきたかったが、ジュビロの寄せや判断の速さに負けてしまった。次節からは石川、茂庭がU-21代表でチームを離れることになるが、このままずるずるいかないように1週間で立て直したい」

【ジュビロ・鈴木監督の会見要旨】「前々節はホームで負けているので、今日はどうしても負けられない、そういう気持ちを前面に出せたゲームになったと思う。東京は今までの戦いからも、立ち上がりからアグレッシブに来るということがわかっていた。そこで失点してしまうと東京のリズムでゲームが進んでしまうので、しっかり集中しようとした。途中から少しずつ守備から攻撃に切り替わった時に、いいスペースでプレーできたことが、こういう結果につながったと思う。前半の内に3点目がほしかったが、選手も次の1点の大事さがわかっていて、後半立ち上がりに3点目が取れたことが大きかったと思う」

Fightback Fizzles 

Kina replaced the injured Ishikawa in the 67th. minute. Disaster struck for TOKYO a minute later as Fujita held the ball up on the edge of the TOKYO area, then rolled a pass back into the path of the charging Nishi whose shot was deflected past Doi by Takahara. The deficit returned to three and Jubilo further tightened the screw by replacing Nanami with Kanazawa and Nishi with the speedy forward Kawaguchi. 
With Jean lending his weight to the attack in the 80th. minute a fast break saw Kawaguchi streak through on goal only to be foiled by a fine save from Doi. Jubilo won three successive corners and effectively penned TOKYO back as the game entered the final few minutes. 
After Asari received a second yellow card and his marching orders in the 85th. minute it was game over for TOKYO. To add insult to injury Nakayama crossed for Takahara to notch his fourth and Jubilo's fifth of the match in the 87th. minute and soon after a lofted through ball from Kanazawa saw Nakayama outpace Ito to lob over the charging Doi for number six. A depressing end to a thoroughly miserable afternoon for F.C.TOKYO. 
As manager Hara said " After giving away the first goal we never really found our rhythm. We really needed someone to step up and show some leadership, but it just didn't happen ". Still, with ten games remaining there is plenty to play for and the team will have to knuckle down and bounce back in the next match. 


F.C.TOKYO manager Hara: 
" We wanted to make an aggressive start but giving away a goal in the first minute completely knocked the stuffing out of us. 
We knew how Jubilo would play and we felt that if we could keep it simple we stood a chance. After their second goal we had a string of chances from set plays and definitely felt that scoring first in the second half could turn the game around. Unfortunately they scored first and when we did pull one back they responded immediately. Losing Asari was a blow and after that we collapsed. You can't afford to make the mistakes against a team like Jubilo that we did today and expect to win. We're losing Ishikawa and Moniwa to the Japan U-21 team from next week; we have a week until the next game and are going to regroup and come out fighting ". 

Jubilo manager Suzuki: 
" We lost our last home game here and the players were determined not to let it happen again today. We knew TOKYO would be very aggressive after they conceded the early goals but kept our concentration and defended well. I really wanted a third goal before half time and we were very aware that the next goal would be the important one. 
Scoring early in the second half was the key to victory today, I think ".
