これ以上負けられない、ナビスコカップ覇者を打ち負かす！

　第31節はジェフユナイテッド千葉をホームに迎えての戦いとなる。今季、このカードは、ナビスコカップ予選リーグを含めて4戦目で、過去3試合はいずれも敗れている。それだけに、選手たちは「4戦して全敗するわけにはいかない」と相当な意気込みを見せていた。原監督も、これまでの対戦について「3試合ともすべて接戦で、1点差で敗れた。内容は決して悪くなく、わずかな差が勝敗を分けていた」と振り返る。そして「千葉には安定感があったが、いまの我々の状態なら、運動量でもこぼれ球へ反応でも、攻守の切り替えの速さでも負けていない」と、現在のチーム状況に手応えを感じている。

　先のナビスコカップでタイトルを獲得した千葉は、現在リーグ戦では5位につけている。首位のG大阪との勝ち点差は7で、逆転に望みをかけて、アウェーでも勝利を狙ってくるだろう。今節は3バックの中央を務めるDFストヤノフが出場停止、DFラインには、中島を起用。「マンツーマンでしっかり守り、攻撃になるとDFラインからも前に飛び出してくる。こちらが引いてしまうと、千葉の思うようにやられてしまう」と原監督。

　後方からの飛び出しと、サイドが高い位置まで上がり、前線のコンビネーションで相手DFを崩していくのが千葉の特徴。リーグ戦では、9月10日第23節以来、4勝4分けと負けなしの東京に対して、千葉も8月27日第21節以来、5勝5分と数字の上でもほぼ互角。これに対抗するには、いままで以上に前からプレスをかけ、守から攻への切り替えの速さが必要になってくるだろう。そして「ナビスコカップのチャンピオンに対して、受けに回るのではなく、チャレンジする気持ちで戦わなければ」と原監督は続ける。スピーディに攻撃を仕掛け、千葉の安定感を打ち破ることが勝利への条件だ。アグレッシブに戦い、ホームでの勝利をめざす！

前節鹿島戦では茂庭、加地が足首を負傷。今週の前半は別メニューでの調整が続いていたが、今日は元気な姿で先発に名を連ねた。試合は、本格的な冬の訪れを感じさせる味の素スタジアム、14時4分に千葉のキックオフでスタートした。

F.C.TOKYO Tackle The Nabisco Champs

Jef United Chiba was the visitor for the 31st. game of the season. The two clubs had met three times previously this year, twice in the Nabisco Cup, and Jef had won all three matches. The players and manager Hara were determined not to allow a clean sweep: "We didn't play badly at all and lost the games by only a single goal each time," he commented, "there really isn't much difference between the two teams". He continued, "Chiba are a very solid team but in terms of running, picking up the loose balls and switching from defence to attack we're second to none right now". 
Nabisco Cup winners Chiba lay in 5th. place in the league at kick off, seven points behind leaders Gamba. A faint hope of a first league title remained and the team could be expected to go all out for a win. Central defender Stoyanov was suspended and Nakajima took his place in the three-man backline. "We have to tightly mark up man-to-man and get defenders forward to join the attack," commented manager Hara, "If we play too deeply then they will be all over us". 
The principal features of Chiba's game are late runs from deep positions, wing players pushing high upfield and sharp interplay between the forwards. Like TOKYO, the club was unbeaten in the previous 8 games. To stand a chance of victory TOKYO would need to aggressively throw Chiba off their stride and attack at high speed. 
Following a rapid recovery from an ankle injury sustained in the Antlers game and a week of training separately from the rest of the squad, Moniwa was named to the starting eleven. Winter had finally arrived in Tokyo and Chiba kicked off shortly after 2pm. on a sunny but chill afternoon. 

ともにスピーディなサッカーを展開するが、決定機を活かせず

　立ち上がりから、ともにスピーディなサッカーを展開した。東京は前からプレスをかけ、しっかりセカンドボールを拾って、多くのシュートシーンをつくった。3分には、鈴木規のクロスのこぼれをつないで、サイドを上がった藤山がシュートを放つ。5分には千葉の右クロスをジャーンがカット。鈴木規がドリブルで前線に駆け上がり、ラストは右から上がった梶山がシュートしたが、GKキャッチ。9分にはルーカスが右サイドに飛び出し、相手DFをかわして中央にパス。受けた梶山はわずかにタイミングがずれ、シュートできず、再びルーカスに。放ったシュートは相手DFに阻まれる。

　一方の千葉も、速いカウンターを仕掛け、東京ゴールに迫ってくる。12分には右MF坂本から右エリア内のFW巻にパスがとおり、シュート。東京DFが阻み、CKに。このCKをつながれ、中央からMF阿部がループシュート。土肥がクロスバーぎりぎりでセーブし、再びCKに逃れる。攻守がめまぐるしく入れ替わり、17分には東京の決定的な場面。速攻から加地の右クロスがファーにフリーで走りこんだ鈴木規に渡るが、ダイレクトで打ったシュートは枠を捉えられず、先制のチャンスを逃した。

　千葉も18分、FWハースが左エリアに切り込み、MF山岸を経由し、右エリア内からFW巻がシュート。26分にもカウンターからFW巻に決定的なシュートを放たれるが、これは土肥がナイスセーブ！　ピンチをしのぐと、29分には右クロスをルーカスが落とし、中央に走りこんだ阿部吉がシュート。DFに阻まれる。35分には自陣で相手ボールを奪い、すぐさまルーカスが右前線に大きくサイドチェンジ。阿部吉が追いつき、エリア右で相手DFを切り返し、シュートするがバーの上。37分には今日初めての直接FKを得て、ゴール前左寄り約25mの距離から鈴木規が直接狙うが、相手の壁に阻まれる。

　どちらがゴールしてもおかしくないという一進一退の展開ながら、互いによく走り、攻守がかみ合ったプレーを繰り広げた。見応えのある攻防が続き、結果的に前半のシュート数は東京11本、千葉は8本放ったが、決定機を活かすことができず、勝負は後半に持ち越された。

High Tempo First Half Yields No Goals

The match began at a frantic pace. TOKYO seized the early initiative with some hard pressing from the front that created possession and chances. In the third minute Fujiyama latched onto a loose ball following Suzuki's run and cross but failed to hit the target. Jean cut out a cross from the right in the 5th. minute then set Suzuki away down the wing; Suzuki centred to Kajiyama but Kushino, in the Jef goal, held his effort comfortably. In the 9th. minute Lucas evaded the Chiba defence down the right and rolled a pass forward to Kajiyama in a central position. Kajiyama failed to control the ball cleanly and it rebounded to Lucas who struck his shot against a defender. 
Chiba threatened on typically fast counter attacks. In the 12th. minute midfielder Sakamoto slid a pass into the path of Maki inside the area. The TOKYO defence blocked Maki's shot out for a corner that was cleared but only as far as Abe just outside the area. Abe produced a dipping lob that Doi tipped over the bar diving backwards at full stretch. The end to end nature of the game continued and TOKYO produced a clear chance in the 17th. minute. Kaji steamed down the right flank before crossing to Suzuki, completely unmarked, racing into the Chiba penalty area. Suzuki took the ball first time on the run but directed his shot wide of the post. 
Haas and Yamagishi combined neatly to set up Maki in the 18th. minute before Doi produced a stunning save to deny Maki the opening goal in the 26th. minute. Abe lashed Lucas' knock down against a defender in the 29th. minute and then fired over the bar in the 35th. minute after cutting inside a defender on the right wing. TOKYO earned the first direct free kick of the proceedings in the 37th. minute, around 25 metres from the Chiba goal, but Suzuki smashed it into the wall. 
The thrilling, open football continued and although both sides looked capable of scoring at any moment neither did and the first period ended 0-0. TOKYO had mustered 11 shots while Chiba managed 8 over the course of a highly entertaining 45 minutes. 

梶山、阿部吉のゴールで、見応えある攻防を制す!!

　東京は前からのプレスがかかり、最終ラインもコンスタントに安定したプレーを発揮した。46分には、千葉の右サイドからのパスに合わせてMF水野にエリアに飛び出されるが、茂庭がきっちり寄せ、土肥がセーブ。48分には右サイドのFWハースから、エリア内まで上がったDF中島へ。中島は東京DFを引き付け、左にパス。MF山岸がフリーで放った決定的なシュートはバーの上にそれて事なきを得た。

　しかし、守備陣の安定により今野、梶山の両ボランチがよく攻撃に絡み、東京もチャンスをつくった。迎えた51分、左サイドで千葉のスローインを今野が奪い、ヘディングで中央のルーカスへ。ルーカスはすかさず前線に浮き球のパスを送る。これを再び今野が粘り強く追いかけ、エリア内で相手DFを振り切り、ゴール前にマイナスのパス。走りこんだ梶山がダイレクトで合わせてゴール！　今野の粘り強さとアグレッシブなプレーがゴールをアシスト、梶山がきっちり決めて先制した！

　これを機に試合は少々ペースダウン。ところが64分、千葉に速い攻撃を仕掛けられる。素早いリスタートから、MF坂本→右エリア内のMF山岸がゴール正面にはたき、フリーになっていたFWハースがゴール。守備が一瞬甘くなった隙を突かれてハースの同点弾を許してしまった。だが、東京もあわてずに追加点を狙いにいく。69分には千葉のCKを土肥がセーブ。速攻につなげ、阿部吉が左前線へ。追いついた鈴木規がドリブルで仕掛け、相手DFをかわし、角度のないところからシュート！　惜しくもボールはバーをヒットし、跳ね返った。

　千葉は74、75分に、FW林、MF羽生を立て続けに投入、3トップの布陣で挑んでくる。東京も74分に馬場に代えて栗澤を、79分には鈴木規に代えてササを投入。互いによくボールを追いかけ、フィニッシュにつなげた。83分にはこぼれ球を右エリア外で拾った梶山が、即シュートとみせかけ、相手DFを中にかわしてからシュート。巧いプレーをみせたが、わずかにバーの上。

　そして、アグレッシブな姿勢がついに勝ち越し弾に結びつくことになる。84分、梶山のミドルシュートを相手DFがクリア。このこぼれをを栗澤がヘッドでつなぎ、左エリアの阿部吉へ。阿部吉は相手DFをかわし、すばやく右足を振り抜いた！　これが決まり、勝ち越しに成功。その後の約10分は落ち着いた試合運びで千葉を突き放し、タイムアップ！　気迫のこもったプレーと攻撃的な姿勢を崩さず、ホームで会心の勝利。同時に勝ち点を42に積み上げ、来季もJ1の舞台で戦うことが決定した。 

　【選手コメント】《梶山》「何より勝てたことがうれしい。さすがにジェフとの4戦目は負けられなかった。ゴールは、最初に今野さんがいいカットをしたので、そこからボールが来ると信じていた。そこに走っただけ。前半からチャンスはつくれていたが、フィニッシュが課題。自分もたくさんシュートを打ったが、精度を高めて2、3点は取れるようにしたい。あと3試合、もっと点を取れるようにどんどんゴールを狙っていきたい」《阿部吉》「ゴールは打った瞬間に入ったのがわかった。クリがつないで、受けた時にもタイミングが合っていた。そこでシュートしようかと思ったが、コースがなく、入る気がしなかった。それで中に運んだ。相手GKもブラインドになっていたし、45度は自分の一番好きな角度。得意のところに持っていけた。今日は相手も走ってくるので走り負けたくなかった。引いて守るのではなく、どんどん攻めてジェフのサッカーをさせないように…という戦術もうまくはまった。残り3戦、自分たちのサッカーをして連勝を伸ばしていきたい」

　【原監督の会見要旨】「ジェフは今季のナビスコカップチャンピオン。昨季のチャンピオンとして負けないように臨んだ。ジェフは攻守の切り替えも速いし、運動量も豊富なので、そこで負けないことを意識した。最近のジェフの試合を観たが、以前とは違ってきている。マンツーマンで守ることは変わらないが、ボールポゼッションから多くの人数が前に出てきて、いつのまにか掴みきれなくなると分析した。だから恐がって下がってしまうと、向こうのペースになる。たとえばMF坂本などが阿部吉をマークしていても、攻撃になるとマークを離してどんどん出てくる。それで阿部吉も下がってしまうことのないように、恐がらず、後ろがマンツーマンの状況になってもよいので、前からボールに行くように指示した。千葉はDFストヤノフが欠場だが、ボールをつなぐほうがリズムが出るチーム。長いボールを蹴り込まれても、こちらは恐くない。前へ出て行って、どちらのチームに勢いがあるか、ボールをより拾えるか、運動量があるか、強気で戦おうと話した。お互いに前から行くので、取られ方が悪いとカウンターになるのは承知の上で、勝負をかけていこうとした。阿部吉、鈴木規をサイドに置くと、ジェフの3バックのうち、ストッパー2人がサイドに出てこなければならなくなる、あるいはサイドにスペースが出来るということを考えて、最初は3トップを選んだ。今日は今野、梶山がよく頑張って、ボールの拾い合い、前線へ飛び出していってのアシストを繰り返した。今季は苦しい戦いが続いたが、若い選手が踏ん張ってくれて、そこを抜け出したことは自信になるし、彼らの将来につながると思う。去年までのオシム監督との戦いは、4戦全部引き分けだった。今季は東京が調子の悪い時に戦い、リーグでもナビスコでも負けてしまった。そのナビスコを除くと、これまでのリーグ戦は4引分け1敗で、オシム監督に一度は勝たなくてはと思っていた。ジェフは本当に恐がらず戦ってくるので、我々も恐がらずいこうという意図どおりのいい試合が出来た。1点取った後、ちょっとでも恐がってしまったら失点していたはず。だから栗澤やササを入れて、恐がらずにいけというメッセージを送った。会場に来てくれた多くのサポーターの皆さんの力もあった」

　【千葉・オシム監督の会見要旨】「今日はグラウンドも悪かった。どちらもアグレッシブに戦った試合だったが、ジェフはまた同じミスを犯してしまった。今のジェフは何も学んでいない。今日は東京の方がよい内容だった。実際どういうふうに点を取られたかを選手に説明するのは簡単だが、いまのジェフには、選手にもっと大きな要求をした時に、それがストレスになって成長できないという選手が何人かいる。もちろんいまのジェフは観客も、多くの人々も期待している。ただその大きな期待に耐えられない、応えられない選手がいる。そこでどうするかが問題。彼らにビジョンがないとは言わない。人は誰にでも野心がある。しかしあるといってもそれを表に見せていかなければいけない。ジェフはここ4～5試合同じミスを犯している。何かを成し遂げようという人間は同じミスはしない。1度で済むはず。それが2度3度と繰り返されている。そこが問題」

Kajiyama, Abe On Target In Thriller 

TOKYO maintained their solid defence and continued to harry Chiba from the front as the second half began. In the 46th. minute Moniwa smoothly dealt with Mizuno's encroachment into the area to chase a long ball and Doi cleaned up the danger. Chiba midfielder Yamagishi blazed over the bar when he should have put his side ahead in the 48th. minute after defender Nakajima had pulled the TOKYO defence towards him on the edge of the area before slipping the ball out to the left. Twin defensive midfielders Konno and Kajiyama were proving highly effective for TOKYO, finding space to join the attack. In the 51st. minute Konno stole in front of the receiver at a Chiba throw in and nodded the ball on to Lucas; Lucas clipped a floated pass forward and Konno gave chase. Displaying his strength and technique Konno won the ball back from a defender, raced to the byline and cut it back for the onrushing Kajiyama to drive it first time inside the near post. Konno's remarkable tenacity and Kajiyama's assured strike had given TOKYO the lead. 
The frenetic pace began to slowly flag until a momentary lapse allowed Jef a foothold in the game. A quick restart down the TOKYO right saw Sakamoto play the ball into the area and the unmarked Haas drove it high into the net for the equaliser. TOKYO responded to the setback in style with Suzuki haring down the wing and turning a defender inside out before hammering the ball against the bar from a seemingly impossible angle. 
Chiba sent on Hanyu and Hayashi and moved to a three striker formation as the match entered the final 15 minutes. TOKYO responded by replacing Baba with Kurisawa and Suzuki with Sasa. Both sides strove mightily to find the goal that would surely decide the contest. Kajiyama twisted and turned to make room for a shot on the edge of the area in the 83rd. minute but fired high. TOKYO's commitment finally paid off a minute later. A Jef defender blocked Kajiyama's shot but Kurisawa leapt to head the ball forward towards Abe on the edge of the area. Abe jinked in front of a defender before unleashing a drive that beat Kushino at his far post. 
TOKYO comfortably retained possession and ran down the ten minutes or so that remained. A spirited display had earned a highly satisfactory win and guaranteed J1 football for the following season.

Kajiyama 
"Above all else I'm pleased with the win today. We weren't going to lose to Jef four times in one year. For the goal Konno made a great interception and I was convinced the ball would come my way. I just ran into the position. We made several chances in the first half but the finishing remains a problem. I could have had two or three myself today. In the three games left I'm going to do my best to improve my goal tally". 

Abe 
"I knew it was going in as soon as I hit it. Kurisawa got a nice touch on the ball but I didn't have a clear sight of goal so I moved it along. Their goalkeeper's view was obstructed and that 45 degree angle is my favourite. We knew they would run hard today and we were determined not to lose out on work rate. Our tactics of not playing too deeply and not allowing them to play their game worked out well. We just want to play our own game in the remaining matches and win them all". 


TOKYO manager Hara 
"Jef are this year's Nabisco Cup champions but as last year's winners we were determined not to lose today. Their style has changed slightly; they now get men forward in greater numbers and try to swamp the opposition. If you play too deeply they can overwhelm you but if you don't then markers can be lost and space appears in their defence. Both sides like to attack and we felt that if we accepted the possibility of losing the ball in dangerous positions then it was worth the risk to push forward. Konno and Kajiyama played very well today and this result will be another great confidence boost for the younger players. Up until last year we had played 4 draws with Osim's Jef United; they caught us at a bad time earlier this year and beat us three times. Now we can say we have pulled one back on them. After we took the lead we became a little fearful and that allowed them to get back into the game. So we sent on Kurisawa and Sasa to reinforce the aggressive forward momentum. The crowd also played their part in the win". 

Jef United manager Osim 
"The pitch was in poor condition today. Both sides played aggressively but Jef made the same mistakes over and over again. The team is just not learning anything at the moment. TOKYO played better today. When we explain what we want from the team some players suffer stress and can't respond to it. Our fans have high expectations of the team but unfortunately some players can't live up to those expectations. They can't deal with it. In the last four or five games the same mistakes have been made over and over again. This is a major problem".
